Flight's aircraft fleet database Aircraft Analytical System (ACAS) has been re-launched today following a £250,000 ($450,000) redesign.

ACAS 3 is being presented to customers today in Toulouse and a second launch event will take place in Seattle next month following almost three years of development. The system is a market information system database for Windows computers covering all fixed-wing civil aircraft from 8-seater commuters to superlarge airliners.

ACAS publisher Tim Fuller says ACAS 3 has four key enhancement areas: A simpler user interface (pictured below), daily internet updates, new fleet forecasting tools and enhanced data on areas such as parked aircraft, freighters and business jets. ACAS can show individual aircraft, fleets and orders, including trends and analyses.

Fuller says: "The reception from customers has been fantastic and we just can’t wait to get the product into the market."

The system is now built on a relational database, Fuller explains, reducing the need to re-key data choices and giving users the ability to cross-reference different data requests. Exporting the data is also simpler, as a graphing tool is built into the new software.

The system is currently in final development and is in test with 21 beta customers including major manufacturers such as Honeywell, General Electric and Smiths Aerospace. ACAS 3 will be available to new customers and rolled out to the existing customers from 1 December.
