General Dynamics is to acquire Veridian for $1.5 billion as part of its strategy to build its information technology business. Arlington, Virginia-based Veridian, which employs 7,300 people, had sales of $1.2 billion last year, which GD expects to increase to $1.4 billion next year. The company will become part of GD's Information Systems and Technology group, boosting its US defence and intelligence business and broadening its customer base to include federal, state and local emergency response agencies.
