Midcoast Aviation is completing development of a reduced vertical separation minimum (RVSM) upgrade for Hawker 700A and B business jets, with availability expected to coincide with the EuropeanRVSM mandate of 24 January. The US company'sinitial supplemental type certification will apply to later Hawker 700s with Rockwell Collins Pro Line II avionics.

Midcoast estimates that more than 210 British Aerospace-built Hawker 700s are flying today.

Garrett Aviation expects certification of its RVSM package for the Gulfstream IIB this month.

In recent months, Bombardier has received RVSM group approval for out-of-production Learjet 35/36-series aircraft, while both Cessna and Garrett have announced plans to certificate RVSMupgrades for more than 2,000 Citation 500, I, II, S/II and V light business jets.
