The Czech Republic has sold 21 surplus MiG-21 fighters to an unnamed local company and plans to dispose of its remaining 12 aircraft around mid-year. Six firms submitted bids to acquire the obsolete aircraft, which had flown an average of 2,000 flight hours. The MiG-21s must be retired as their 30-year service lives have expired.
