Speculation over a successor for Airbus managing director Jean Pierson has mounted, with press speculation that former head of Daimler-Benz Aerospace (Dasa)Harmut Mehdorn could be set for the post. Previously the job has gone to a French executive. Airbus dismisses the rumours as "pure speculation" but admits that Pierson's contract expires next April. Mehdorn is head of Germany's massive Heidelberg printing press group. Pierson is tipped to take over as chairman of the Airbus supervisory board from former Daimler-Benz chairman Edzard Reuter.
