The Lockheed Martin-led team bidding to meet the US Navy's VXX presidential transport helicopter requirement has test flown a US101 demonstrator equipped with new engines and an improved cockpit specification. The modified EH101 made its 2h debut from AgustaWestland's Yeovil plant in the UK on 6 October powered by three General Electric CT7-8Es, each generating up to 2,500shp (1,860kW). The aircraft's cockpit was equipped with five 255 x 200mm (10 x 8in) flat panel displays for the demonstration, which took place around two months before the navy is scheduled to announce a decision between the US101 and Sikorsky's VH-92.
