Saudia's technical division has commissioned an engine test cell for General Electric GE90-115B powerplants.

Safran subsidiary Cenco has been contracted to build a 14m (46ft) engine test cell at the Saudia Aerospace Engineering's Jeddah base.

The facility, to become operational in July 2016, will enable the MRO provider to test GE90-94 and -115B engines, but will also be used for other engines that are serviced in the MRO specialist’s overhaul shop.

SAEI supports CF6, CF34, CFM International CFM56, and International Aero Engines V2500 engines in its shop.

The test cell is to be used for GEnx and Rolls-Royce Trent 700/900/1000 powerplants as well as GE90s in future, says Cenco.
