Regional airlines raised their concerns about security, especially relating to the Transportation Security Administration's plans to furlough 6,000 of its 55,000 screeners. Although many regional executives freely concede that small airports are overstaffed with screeners, they fear a disparate impact at larger airports when the screeners are laid off, and the association is working hard to avoid any such impact, said RAA president Deborah McElroy.
