Air Nauru, Nauru's Government owned airline, was still negotiating this month to recover its Boeing 737-400, seized under a court order obtained by Philippine Airlines (PAL) on January 26. The carrier had owed about $1 million to PAL, although PAL had provided an interest free schedule of repayments of about $50,000 a month. When Air Nauru had been unable to meet this, the new Nauru Government declined to come to the rescue.
