The system is designed to protect occupants in the event of an emergency by lowering the aircraft to the ground after deployment. It is standard equipment on every Cirrus aircraft and needs to be exchanged and repacked every 10 years to guarantee maximum safety, says Beechcraft. All Cirrus aircraft acquired in 1999 and 2000 with serial numbers 1005 to 1102 are scheduled to have heir systems replaced and overhauled.
