Wet-lease operator SmartLynx’s parent company, Avia Solutions Group, has taken the strategic step of shifting its headquarters to Ireland.

The company, previously based in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, says it selected Dublin as its new site owing to Ireland’s close associations with aviation firms.

“Ireland is known as the hub of aviation,” says Avia Solutions chief Jonas Janukenas.

“Being closer to the aviation community, we will be able to implement the group’s development plans faster and maintain market leadership.”

Avia Solutions claims that, as a result of the transfer, it will be one of Ireland’s largest aviation companies.

The company has various divisions and a fleet totalling some 165 aircraft, and also provides training, maintenance and handling services.

Janukenas says the relocation decision was a “strategically important step”, pointing out that investors have been active in the company through the Dublin stock exchange.

Avia Solutions is the parent not only of SmartLynx but also Avion Express, BBN Airlines, VIP transport provider KlasJet and cargo specialist Magma Aviation.
