AirAsia’s long-haul arm AirAsia X has set a 4 February launch date for its second international service, flying to Hangzhou in China from Kuala Lumpur.
The carrier will operate Kuala Lumpur-Hangzhou, on which there is currently no scheduled passenger service, five times a week.
It marks the carrier’s second international service after it launched four weekly flights to the Gold Coast in Australia during November. It operates a single Airbus A330.
AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani says: “As one of China’s most prosperous and economically significant cities, it is a strategic addition to the AirAsia X network.
“Given its popularity among customers from our existing AirAsia and AirAsia X destinations, we are confident that there will be solid demand for the Hangzhou route, which serves the Zhejiang province and the neighbouring Greater Shanghai metropolitan.”
