Airbus delivered 159 aircraft over the first four months of 2010, three fewer than the 162 it managed by the same point last year.

Deliveries over the period including an A380 to Air France, the fourth of the type to be handed to customers this year, plus 26 A330/340s and 129 A320-family jets.

The airframer experienced a quiet April, adding just seven aircraft - all Airbus A320s for Cebu Pacific - to its order backlog.

Airbus' net order total for the year to 30 April reached 67 aircraft, comprising 49 long-haul and 18 short-haul airframes.

Rival Boeing had secured net orders for 96 jets by 27 April.
