Qantas is due to open its new 14-gate domestic passenger terminal, which is part of the ongoing upgrade ahead of next year's Olympic Games, at Sydney's Kingsford Smith Airport on 28 June. Emirates has started operating from a new departure terminal at Dubai International Airport. Other airlines at the airport will move to the new facilities by September. BAA has opened a new terminal at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland, increasing annual capacity to around 7 million passengers. BAA has also completed runway resurfacing work at Southampton Airport, which will allow aircraft up to the size of the Boeing 757 to be operated. Austin's Bergstrom International Airport opened officially on 23 May. The airport is on the site of a disused military base. Bergstrom replaces the Texan capital's Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, which closed at midnight on 22 May. SAirGroup ground-handling company Swissport International has launched operations at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and five stations in France. The French subsidiaries will operate as Air Littoral Assistance in Montpellier, Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Toulouse and are 70%-owned by Swissport, with the French regional carrier holding the rest.
