Proposals from Cubic Defense Systems and Raytheon Systems have been shortlisted by the Australian Department of Defence for the development of an instrumented air combat manoeuvre facility located at the Delamare bombing range in Australia's Northern Territory, with a source selection to be made "in the next few months."
Project evaluation staff had already made a recommendation on a source selection for the air combat range to the Defence Source Definition Committee, but that recommendation was rejected in mid-October. Instead, the project office was directed to reconsider its proposals.
Cubic is teamed with British Aerospace Australia and the electronic warfare (EW) element is sourced from GeorgiaTech in the USA. Raytheon Systems is teamed with ADI and Adelaide-based Vision Abell, which would jointly undertake the electronic warfare element with Raytheon's E-Systems division.
