Procerus Technologies is debuting its latest software upgrade on Cyber Technology.

The quadrotor UAV, which will be demoed at AUVSI's Unmanned Systems North America 2011 in the flying area, now has the ability to autonomously track a person after its operator identifies him as a person of interest. The company has been working on tracking projects for the past year, but the capability is making its first conference appearance this week, according to Neil Johnson, systems engineer for Procerus.

An added vision processing sensor is the key to the feature.

Prior to the upgrade, the system was capable of autonomous takeoff, flight and landing. The vision sensor joins a suite that includes a GPS and internal navigation system; a 3-axis accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer; and differential and barometric pressure sensors. The quadrotor has been on the market for two years.
