BOEING HAS qualified Dexter Aerospace's Hysol EA 9257 low-volatile organic compound (VOC) adhesive bonding primer to its BMS 5-137 qualification.
Dexter says that it is the first time Boeing has qualified a production low-VOC, water-based bonding primer.
The company believes that the primer processes in a similar way to current solvent-based systems and performs well with high-volume, low-pressure spray equipment. It is to be used on engine nacelles, primarily in sound-suppression applications.
