Boeing will provide landing gear exchange, repair and overhaul services on Qantas Airways' Boeing 747-400ER aircraft.

The Oneworld carrier will be the launch customer for Boeing's landing gear overhaul and exchange programme for the 747-400ER, says Boeing, adding that the agreement will take effect in 2011.

"By choosing Boeing's landing gear exchange programme, Qantas will have immediate access to a replacement gear without having to invest in a landing gear asset themselves," says Dale Wilkinson, vice president, material services, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Qantas operates six 747-400ERs and was the programme launch customer for the aircraft, says Boeing.
