Swiss premium charter specialist PrivatAir has filed for insolvency, along with its German subsidiary.
The decision follows several weeks of uncertainty over PrivatAir’s situation, after it was listed in corporate registers as being subject to a bankruptcy petition in Geneva, subsequently appealed and cancelled.
PrivatAir states that, over the past few weeks, a number of events have had a “significant impact” on the companies’ future business forecast and viability.
This has “forced” the two businesses to file for insolvency, it adds.
PrivatAir was established more than 40 years ago and employs nearly 230 personnel.
It specialised in all-business transport using aircraft such as Boeing 737s and Airbus A319s configured with premium cabin layouts, operating charter services as well as specific premium routes for major carriers.
PrivatAir also operated long-haul types such as the Boeing 767 and was a customer for the 787.
