Saudi Arabian budget carrier Flynas signed a firm order today at the Dubai air show for 10 Airbus A321XLRs, upgrading the MoU it signed at the Paris air show in June.

The first deliveries of the Airbus narrowbody will begin in 2025, but market demand for the destinations that would fall into the 8-9h range of the A321XLR means Flynas would take the aircraft “tomorrow” if it was available, says chief executive Bandar Almohanna.

The relaxation of visa laws by the Saudi government will stimulate the demand for pilgrimage traffic into the country, prompting Flynas to expand its fleet and its network, says chairman Ayed Al Jeaid.

The order for 10 A321XLRs adds to Flynas’s Airbus backlog of 90 A320-family aircraft, says Airbus chief commercial officer Christian Scherer.

The carrier has 32 A320s in service, including four A321neos.
