China's Hongdu Aviation Industry has selected Ukraine's ZMKB Progress AI-222-25F to power its L-15 supersonic trainer, which is expected to fly for the first time late next year. The company could also use the engine with new derivatives of its A-5 Fantan fighter, including a twin-seat JAQ-5J set to debut in 2005.
