One of the most unusual ‘turns’ at Farnborough is presented by the Cobham Group’s FR Aviation division. Two of the company’s Falcon 20 aircraft – usually used for Fleet Support and Electronic Warfare training duties - are undertaking a co-ordinated display routine at the show from tomorrow.
The aircraft are photographed here during their impressive validation performance at the weekend.
The Cobham Group claims to own and operate the largest civil fleet of Dassault Falcon 20 aircraft in the world, which replaced the Canberras and Hunters previously used by the RAF and Royal Navy for target towing, ECM training and fleet support duties.
Captained by former Red Arrows team leader Spike Jepson and director of flight operations John Danning, the Cobham Formation team won two awards for their flying displays last year - the Rose Bowl Trophy at the Waddington Air Day for the Best Display and the King Hussein Memorial Sword for the Best Overall Flying Demonstration at the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford.
The team usually displays with four Royal Navy Hawk aircraft from RNAS Culdrose, which often supports it on training tasks, but the latter are not funded to participate at Farnborough.
