An Ariane 5 successfully launched two satellites into orbit from its launch facility at Kourou, French Guiana.

The 7 February launch is Ariane 5's first of 2013 and the second for operating company Arianespace, which launched a Soyuz from Baikonur, Kazakhstan on 6 February.

The two satellites, Amazonas-3 and Azersat/Africasat-1a reportedly deployed successfully into geostationary transfer orbit.

Arianespace has 10 further launches planned for 2013, including five Ariane 5s. The remaining five are a mix of Soyuz and Vega launch vehicles, all of which will launch from the Kourou facility.
