Rolls-Royce Deutschland has delivered the first Tay turbofans to be completed after the transfer of assembly from the UK to Dahlewitz, Germany. The two Tay 611-8s were delivered to business jet maker Gulfstream.

Responsibility for the Tay, as well as engineering on Spey turbojets and Dart turboprops, was transferred to Germany to balance workload within R-R and offset a reduction in engineering work at Dahlewitz after certification of the BR700 family, says R-R Deutschland engineering director Norbert Arndt.

R-R's German arm is the single interface with the customer for the Tay and BR700. The company assembles the BR710 powering the Bombardier Global Express and the Gulfstream G500/G550 and the BR715 for the Boeing 717 and BAE Systems Nimrod MRA4. Tay assembly will be integrated into the BR700 line at Dahlewitz by mid-year.
