Airbus has disclosed an order for 20 A320neo jets from an unidentified customer, as activity in March picked up following a slow start to the year.

Lufthansa’s agreement for 20 A350s and Taiwanese carrier Starlux Airlines’ order for 17 A350s, plus a deal for a single private A350, took gross orders for the first quarter to 62.

But Airbus remains in negative net orders for the three-month period with 120 cancellations leaving it with a 58-aircraft deficit.

The airframer delivered 74 aircraft during March taking overall deliveries for the first quarter to 162.

These deliveries included 126 A320-family jets, 22 A350s, five A330s and a single A380, plus eight A220s.

Airbus delivered 121 aircraft over the same quarter last year, although this had been a relatively low figure given that it achieved 136 deliveries in 2016.
