With the biggest line of helicopter models in the World, Eurocopter faced tough choices in deciding what to send to ILA!

One obvious choice was the record-breaking EC130B4, the latest member of the highly successful Ecureuil/Squirrel line. The EC130B is based on the proven Ecureuil, but it has a 25-cm wider cabin (giving 10% greater volume), with a new nose shape incorporating more glazed area, giving pilot and passengers a much better all round view. The aircraft is also fitted with a fenestron tail rotor, with asymmetrically spaced blades, giving a very low noise signature.

Where the Bell JetRanger was once the best-selling single turbine helicopter, that crown has now been taken by Eurocopter’s Ecureuil/EC130 line. Textron delivered just 28 Model 206B JetRangers last year, and 25 Model 206L LongRangers (of a total of 181 helicopters). In the same period, Eurocopter sold 802 helicopters, including 325 EC130s. The EC135 was Eurocopter’s second best selling aircraft in 2007, clocking up 134 orders.
