India buys Arabsat

India, which lost its Insat 2D satellite in orbit in July, has purchased the Arabsat 1C satellite in orbit for $40 million from the Arab consortium which had operated the craft since 1992. The Arabsat 1C will be moved into the assigned Insat 2D position in geostationary orbit.
