The need to secure talented new recruits for the aerospace industry is acute. Your feature "Talent spotting" (Flight International, 6-12 January) focused on recruiting top graduates. However, the aerospace sector must increasingly turn its attention to inspiring much younger students if there are to be enough apprentices and graduates with the skills and attitudes to work in this world-leading industry in the future.
Through strong support from Rolls-Royce and Airbus, the Industrial Trust is working at the grass roots to inspire school and college students and turn them on to the idea of working in this dynamic, wealth-creating sector. But not every company is as enlightened as these two. We urgently need more companies throughout the supply chain to collaborate with us - and get involved in other education/business activities - if the aerospace sector in the UK is to thrive for another 100 years.
