Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has selected the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engine to power its six ordered Airbus A380 aircraft. The decision, which has been widely reported in the Malaysian media and confirmed by supplier sources, follows the signing of a purchase agreement for the six aircraft last December by MAS's state-owned parent Penerbangan Malaysia with the European aircraft manufacturer. MAS had been evaluating the Trent 900 and the rival General Electric/Pratt & Whitney Engine Alliance GP7200.
