BEAT THE FREEZE
Exhibitors at the next Dubai air show, which will be held on 13-17 November 2011, have to book their space by the end of 2010 to take advantage of an ongoing prize freeze. "Exhibitors at MEBA will have the opportunity to take advantage of the attractive rate, which was frozen at 2009 show prices, and book their slot now. The new rate will take effect from the new year and competition will start hotting up for the remaining stand locations still available," says Alison Weller, managing director of show organiser F&E Aerospace. The twelfth edition of the show in 2011 is expected to have around 950 exhibitors, up from the 890 at the previous edition in 2009. Nearly 53,000 trade visitors from 138 countries attended that event.
FLYING ABROAD
Completions and maintenance specialist Flying Colours (stand C309) is launching an international expansion drive. The Canadian company says it has held "preliminary discussions" with several companies about establishing a joint venture outside North America. "We have seen a very active growth in our international client base from our green Bombardier Challenger completion programme, which has also led to numerous other maintenance and refurbishment opportunities from clients outside of North America," says John Gillespie, Flying Colours president and chief executive.
THRANE PLUGS IN
Satellite communications equipment manufacturer Thrane & Thrane (stand C428) is displaying its new Aviator Wireless Handset to the Middle East business aviation market for the first time at this year's MEBA. Designed for in-flight communications, the handset connects through a wireless access point to the aircraft's Aviator SwiftBroadband system for users to make calls over the IP based network. Its features include echo and noise cancellation, tactile controls and 2.2in (55mm) TFT colour screen.
ACJ CABIN READY
Airbus Corporate Jet Centre (ACJC) is preparing to deliver its sixth cabin to an undisclosed customer in the Middle East. The latest delivery is an A320 Prestige with a VIP cabin that features a forward lounge with club seats and a divan, a bedroom with an en suite bathroom and two VIP guest areas. This aircraft is the first operational A320 Prestige equipped with Airbus's GSM on-board system.
