French aerospace training centres will receive €9.5 million ($12.6 million) this year from apprenticeship levies, a tax paid by all French employers.

The sum is 9% more than was received in 2003 from the levies, which are collected and distributed by French aerospace association Gifas.

There are quotas for funds to go to different levels of training aimed at engineers, technicians and manual workers and for the different types of training, including apprenticeships, training centres and schooling.

This year's allocation will focus on two main areas - apprenticeships and engineering schools - and will also fund the industry's efforts to publicise careers and courses in aerospace.
