NATO members back peacekeeping efforts

Increased assistance to peacekeeping and reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq topped the agenda at last week's NATO summit in Istanbul. The 26 member states backed a request to provide equipment and training for the new Iraqi security forces, and to expand the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from 6,500 to 10,000 personnel.
