A fleet of ageing Cessna Citation Vs and two derivatives can soon be revitalised with Bendix King’s Aerovue avionics suite, thanks to a new relationship with completion and manufacturing specialist Sabreliner.
The Honeywell subsidiary’s three-display cockpit system is being developed as a retrofit option for the Citation V, Citation V Ultra and Citation V Encore, says Greg Fedele, Sabreliner president.
The system will replace Primus’s 1000-based cockpits in the Ultra and Encore models, as well as the original avionics in the straight V, he says.
Sabreliner expects the supplemental type certificate for the modification to be approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration in the second or third quarter of 2016.
A similar avionics retrofit package with the Aerovue system is in development with Sabreliner and Bendix King for the Beechcraft King Air C90 turboprop. That package is scheduled to reach the market with an STC in the fourth quarter next year. The C90 upgrade follows an effort to offer the Aerovue as a retrofit option for the King Air 200 and B200 aircraft.
