Italian carrier Neos has inaugurated a service between Milan Malpensa and Nanjing, the first of several Chinese routes the leisure carrier plans to begin this year.

A LinkedIn posting by the airline's ground outstation manager Simone Bovi states that the carrier has begun flights between the two cities with a Boeing 767-300ER.

Bovi indicates that a third weekly frequency will be added next year when the carrier takes delivery of a 787-9.

Services to Jinan, Shenyang and Tianjin are to be added at a later date, he tells FlightGlobal.

FlightGlobal schedules shows no other airline operating from Milan to Nanjing.
