Vueling is to add nine new routes from Rome Fiumicino this winter and 13 during the summer 2016 season.

The Barcelona-based low-cost carrier will fly to Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, London Gatwick, Lyon, Nice, Santiago de Compostela, Stuttgart and Vienna from the Italian capital this winter. Bari-Barcelona and Milan Malpensa-Paris Orly services will also be started.

In March 2016, Vueling will boost its Roman network by adding connections to Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Fuerteventura, Geneva, Kalamata, Kiev, Manchester, Oslo, Riga, Stockholm, Tallinn, Tenerife and Zurich.

As part of this expansion, Vueling will base an additional two aircraft at Rome, bringing the total to 11.

Vueling says it will operate 118 routes from Italy in 2016, of which 66 will be from Rome, where the carrier says it is now the second-largest carrier.
