Dane Jorgen Lindegaard is to be the new president and chief executive of tri-national Scandinavian carrier SAS. Currently head of Danish telecoms technology specialist GN Store Nord, he replaces current SAS CEO Jan Stenberg on 1 June next year. Wang Chang Shun has been appointed president of China Southern Airlines, the country's largest carrier. He has served as vice president (VP) of Xinjiang Airlines, based in Urumqi, where he was also provincial vice director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of China. Wang replaces Yan Zhi Qing, who becomes president of the Southern Airlines Group. Flip Botha has been named CEO of South African defence specialist Denel. Botha has been acting CEO for two years. Dermot Mannion has been appointed chief director of the Dubai-based Emirates Group. Responsible for finance, IT and services, he joins a three-man team under group MD Maurice Flanagan. Tim Byrne, MD of UK tour operator Airtours, is to replace David Crossland as CEO. Crossland becomes executive chairman of the struggling group, with Richard Carrick becoming CEO of its UK arm. German subsidiary Frosch Touristik will also get a new chief. Chris Stephens has been named VP and chief financial officer of Boeing Satellite Systems, with William Ballhaus becoming GM of the division's Electron Dynamic Devices unit. Canada's Spar Aerospace has appointed Anthony Caputo CEO, effective 1 January. Already president, he will continue the Toronto company's drive into aviation services. Delta Air Lines has named Pat Wildenburg, Steve Scheper and Jud Brandt to head up its B2B, business-to-consumer and business-to-employee initiatives, respectively. Elizabeth Young has been appointed GM, aircraft services at SITA, based in Washington DC. She was previously SITA's director of passenger communication services.
