Royal Air Maroc is entering a partnership with Oneworld carrier Qatar Airways which will involve a commercial tie-up centred on their services between Casablanca and Doha.

RAM is to open a thrice-weekly link connecting the two hubs, using Boeing 787s. Qatar Airways already operates the route seven times per week.

The airlines confirmed the partnership during the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai.

RAM says that, under the co-operation, passengers will be able to purchase a single itinerary combining flights on both airlines’ networks.

This will enable customers to take advantage of one-stop ticketing and baggage check-in, it adds, as well as a broader choice of flights and destinations.

Qatar and RAM intend to expand codeshare networks beyond Casablanca and Doha, the airlines state.

RAM is not a member of any global alliance but the airline indicated to Flightglobal last year that it had a preference for Oneworld.

Chief executive Driss Behima says the new agreement with Qatar Airways will create a “bridge” between Asia and Africa.
