Quake sats
NPO Mashinostroyeniya of St Petersburg plans to develop four 130kg (290lb) earthquake prediction satellites and launch them on converted SS-18 Strela missiles from 2001. Instruments carried on the satellites could forecast earthquakes from 2h to two days before they occur.
