Rockwell Collins is to supply Singapore Airlines with moving map and flight information displays for its five new Airbus A340-500 aircraft. Initial installations have already begun and will be completed later this year.

The Collins Airshow 420 system provides passengers with real-time aircraft location, flight time, nearby points of interest, air speed, altitude and temperature information, as well as safety briefings and customer-specified information.

Airshow 420's maps include topographical and political information, plus 3-D perspective maps that simulate a view of the world as it appears from the aircraft on a clear day.

Alan Bearden, director of airshow sales for Rockwell Collins Commercial Systems, says: "We look forward to continuing the strong relationship that has developed over the years with Singapore Airlines. It is evident that their selection was based on the quality and reliability that they have come to expect from Rockwell Collins."

Airshow introduced the industry's first moving map product, the Airshow 100, in 1982.
