Rockwell Collins (Hall 4, A2) is to supply its VHF air navigation and tactical air navigation (TACAN) systems for the 28 Saab/BAE Systems Gripen aircraft being supplied to the South African Air Force.
Deliveries of the equipment will begin in 2008, and are scheduled to be complete by 2012.
Rockwell Collins TACAN equipment, which includes the current DoD standard ARN-153, provides precision azimuth and distance information from fixed ground stations.
The VHF omnidirectional radio range/instrument landing system (VOR/ILS) ARN 147 is a standard receiver in the US Air Force and others worldwide.
Rockwell Collins has also undertaken to provide similar equipment for anticipated future export orders of the Gripen.
