Rockwell Collins has boosted its widebody and narrowbody in-flight entertainment (IFE) system orderbook, securing deals from Vietnam Airlines and China Eastern Airlines.

Vietnam Airlines has selected Rockwell's Total Entertainment System (TES) for six Boeing 777-200ERs due for delivery from mid-2003 to 2005. The TES features audio and video on-demand. The order is part of a wider communication, navigation and surveillance sensor package.

China Eastern, meanwhile, has selected Rockwell's narrowbody IFE system Paves, inherited from its purchase of Sony Trans Com, for 20 Airbus A320s. Deliveries will start in January and run to November 2005.

Rockwell demonstrated Paves with wireless connectivity at last week's WAEA show. The system used Rockwell's Integrated Information System to demonstrate in-flight internet/e-mail services using wireless-compatible laptops and personal electronic devices.
