-Singapore Airlines will suspend indefinitely services to Sendai, Japan, and Cairns, Australia, from 1 October.
-Emirates Airlines is to provide South African Airlines with Johannesburg-Dubai services through an extension of its code-sharing arrangements.
-Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand have extended their code-sharing agreement to cover Dunedin, Wellington, Rotorua and Queenstown.
-Swiss World is operating six times a week between Geneva and New York Newark using a Boeing 767-200ER.
-Lufthansa has announced a new service from Frankfurt to Detroit and Philadelphia using an Airbus A340.
-Air India has signed a code-sharing agreement with Singapore Airlines covering services between Los Angeles and Singapore.
-Air Lanka has signed an agreement with Air India that anticipates wider code-sharing. Air India is now considering relaunching Colombo services, allowing for discussions to be held on a wider code-share agreement early next year.
-Brymon Airways is to open UK regional services on weekdays between Manchester and Bristol starting on 26 October. Services from Manchester to Glasgow and Edinburgh will follow.
-GB Airways is to operate a daily British Airways franchise service from London Gatwick to Alicante, Spain starting in March 1999.
-Lebanese cargo carrier Trans Mediterranean Airways has started a weekly service to Shanghai and Bangkok, and plans to increase its frequency to twice-weekly later this month. It plans flights to Tokyo and Singapore from mid-1999.
-Lauda Air will introduce a direct weekly service between Vienna and Agadir, Morocco, on 27 October, with a Boeing 737-400.
-Estonian Air is adding two new destinations from October, with the introduction of services from Tallinn to Oslo and Frankfurt.
