Central European budget carrier Wizz Air’s first Airbus A321XLR has been involved in a hard landing and tail-strike at Prague.

The incident occurred on 11 September, according to French investigation authority BEA.

BEA has not given any further details regarding the circumstances of the event.

But it confirms the identity of the airframe as G-XLRA, which was only delivered to the Wizz Air UK division of the airline in mid-May.

The aircraft had been arriving from London Gatwick and conducted its approach to runway 24.

Meteorological data from Prague indicates good visibility and no significant weather conditions, other than variable winds, at the time.

None of the occupants was injured but BEA, citing Czech counterparts, describes the event as serious.

The aircraft was the first example of the Pratt & Whitney GTF-powered variant of the long-range A321XLR to be delivered to an operator, following certification by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in February this year.

Prague was the scene of another A321neo tail-strike, on 11 May, involving a Turkish Airlines aircraft which made a hard landing on runway 12.
