Airbus delivered just 10 A320neo-family jets in February, fewer than the number handed over in the same month last year, as engine technical snags continued to hamper output.

Eight of the aircraft were fitted with CFM International Leap-1A engines, FlightGlobal analysis of Airbus's latest order backlog shows.

The airframer has slowed delivery of Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-powered aircraft after a new issue recently emerged with a compressor seal.

Airbus managed to deliver a PW1100G-equipped A320neo – the 8,000th A320 to roll off the production line – to Air China on 1 February.

The airframer also handed over a single Pratt-powered A321neo to China Southern Airlines, via lessor AerCap.

But the total A320neo-family deliveries were down on the 12 aircraft achieved in February 2017, and overall deliveries of the re-engined variants have reached only 16 so far this year.

Airbus's single-aisle output over the first two months, 50 aircraft, is lower than last year's level of 60.

But the airframer, which is expecting to produce nearly 800 jets this year, recently expressed confidence that delivery of PW1100G-powered A320neos will resume around April.

Among the airlines to receive Leap-powered A320neos during February were SAS, AirAsia, Air India, Pegasus Airlines, Azul and Vistara.
