The UK's defence ministry has awarded MBDA a £1.2 billion ($1.9 billion) contract for long-range air-to-air missiles. The UK will use the BAE Systems/EADS/Finmeccanica joint venture's Meteor missiles on Euro-fighter Typhoon fighter aircraft. The UK has invested £1 billion in the project.
