McDonnell Douglas has delivered the first of two MD-11s bought direct by VASP Airlines. The delivery to the Brazilian carrier, which also operates four leased MD-11s, brings the total of the type in service to 142. The company has also handed over the first of up to five MD-82s to Taiwan-based U-Land Airlines, taking MD-80 deliveries to 1,129.
