Accelerated launch

The Japanese Government has approved the development of an uprated H2 satellite launcher, 18 months earlier than planned. The new booster, with additional strap-on boosters and uprated engines, will first be flown in 2000, with a capability to place 4,000kg into geostationary orbit.
