Aerolineas Argentinas and China Southern signed a codeshare agreement ahead of the state-owned Argentine carrier's entry into the Skyteam alliance today.

Mariano Recalde, chief executive of Aerolineas, and Zhang Zifang, party committee secretary of China Southern, signed the agreement along with other airline and Skyteam representatives in Buenos Aires.

Zhang says that the agreement will create more "cooperative opportunities" for the airlines in both China and Latin America.

Aerolineas and China Southern passengers can connect between their respective networks in Sydney.
