Airbus has appointed Guillaume Chevasson as the head of its Canadian operation, and leader of the A220 programme.

Chevasson, a finance specialist, has held several executive roles over the last 15 years. Airbus credits him as being instrumental in the merger of the airframer’s commercial and group activities. He also previously served as vice-chair of conversion operation EFW and with the board of ATR.

He takes over the A220 programme at a critical point in its development, as Airbus continues a ramp-up aimed at reaching a 14-per-month production rate next year.

The hike in output is part of the airframer’s effort to make the twinjet’s manufacture profitable.

Chevasson takes over as Airbus strives to reach a 14-per-month production rate for the twinjet

Airbus delivered 53 A220s, all but three of them -300 variants, over the first eight months of this year.

Chevasson will lead the Airbus Canada division as it moves into the final ramp-up phase, “en route to achieving profitability”.

He takes over from Benoit Schultz who, since being named as head in 2021, has overseen inauguration of the pre-assembly line and the introduction of the A220 flight and integration test centre, as well as construction of the Montreal Mirabel delivery centre.

“Our mission is clear – to accelerate the production ramp-up, lead this programme towards its full potential and ensure best in-class support and experience to our customers,” says Chevasson.
