Werner Rothenbacher has been appointed managing director of Air Berlin Technik, the German airline's maintenance arm.
Most recently in charge of technical operations at Etihad Airways, Rothenbacher has also worked for the German air force and Lufthansa within a 25-year aviation career.
At Air Berlin Technik's helm he succeeds Marco Ciomperlik, who has become Air Berlin's chief restructuring officer.
Rothenbacher will also serve as senior vice-president technical, reporting to chief operating officer Helmut Weixler.
